Who you see at CLNQ
Dermatology at CLNQ is delivered by a team rather than a single job title: consultant plastic surgeons, dermatologists, and doctors with a specialist interest in dermatology. Which of them sees you depends on what you have come about, and that is decided by the problem rather than by who has availability.
A pigmented lesion that needs a trained eye and a dermatoscope is examined by a doctor who does that work every week. A lesion that needs excising with a scar you will live with on your face is removed by a plastic surgeon. A rash, an inflammatory skin condition or a course of medical skin treatment is managed by a doctor with a specialist interest in dermatology.
We are explicit about this because a lot of clinics are not. If you want to know who will be treating you before you book, ask us and we will tell you by name.
What we see
Lesions and moles. Mole checks, dermatoscopic assessment, removal with histology on every specimen, and referral where something needs a hospital pathway. This is the largest part of what we do and it has its own page: mole removal in Manchester.
Skin cancer concern. If you have a lesion that has changed shape, colour or size, that bleeds or itches, or that simply looks different from your others, that is a reason to be seen rather than to wait. We will tell you honestly whether it needs nothing, needs removing, or needs a two-week-wait referral, and we will arrange the referral rather than leaving it with you.
Inflammatory and chronic skin conditions. Rosacea, acne and acne scarring, melasma and pigmentation, keloid and problem scarring, excessive sweating, and hirsutism.
Benign lesions. Skin tags, seborrhoeic keratoses, milia, cysts, lipomas, xanthelasma, angiokeratomas and warts.
Allergy and patch testing. Where a rash or reaction needs its cause identified rather than just suppressing, we run allergy panels from £250.
Mole checks, and why they are worth booking
Melanoma is the skin cancer that matters most, and the thing that changes the outcome is how early it is found. A mole check is fifteen minutes and it is the single most useful dermatology appointment most people will ever have.
A full body mole check at CLNQ is £250. Every lesion is examined with a dermatoscope, anything suspicious is photographed and documented, and you leave knowing which of your moles need watching and which do not. If something needs removing we can usually do it the same day, and if something needs a hospital pathway we arrange it.
Book one if: you have more than fifty moles, you have had significant sun exposure or sunburn, you have a family history of melanoma, you have fair skin that burns easily, or you have a mole you keep checking in the mirror. That last one is the most common reason and the most sensible.

How an appointment works
You are seen within days rather than months, in a clinic rather than a hospital outpatient queue, and by the clinician the problem calls for.
The appointment is a proper examination: history, dermatoscopic assessment of the lesion you came about and usually of the rest of your skin while you are there, and a plan. If something can be treated the same day, it usually is. If it needs histology, the specimen goes to the lab and you get the result and an explanation of it.
What we will not do is remove a pigmented lesion without examining it first. Destroying something that should have been looked at properly is the one mistake in dermatology that genuinely matters, and it is the reason the cheapest mole removal offer is rarely the one to take.
