What is Juläine?
Juläine (also written Julaine, and sold as JULÄINE™ of Sweden) is a regenerative aesthetic injectable developed by Nordberg Medical, a Swedish company. It is described by its manufacturer as a skin bio-activator: a lactic acid based product that works by prompting your own skin to make new collagen, rather than by adding volume from outside.
It uses a proprietary formulation the company calls LASYNPRO™ technology — highly uniform microspheres of high-purity biomaterial, designed to distribute evenly through the tissue. The product is described as biocompatible and biodegradable, meaning it is broken down and cleared by the body over time rather than remaining permanently.
Its stated indication is the correction of mild to severe nasolabial folds — the lines running from the side of the nose to the corner of the mouth. It is supplied to medical aesthetic clinics only and is intended to be administered by trained doctors, not sold direct to the public.
How Juläine works — biostimulation, not filling
This is the distinction that matters most, and it is the one patients most often miss when comparing prices.
A conventional hyaluronic acid dermal filler works by occupying space. It is injected, it holds water, and the line is filled from the moment you leave the clinic. When it breaks down, the effect goes with it.
A biostimulator works differently. The material acts as a scaffold and a stimulus: fibroblasts — the cells in your skin responsible for producing collagen — respond to it by laying down new collagen in the treated area. The change is therefore gradual, developing over weeks to months rather than appearing immediately, and what you end up with is your own tissue rather than a product sitting in the tissue.
The practical consequences are worth understanding before you book. Biostimulation is slower. It usually requires more than one session. It is less useful when you want an immediate, precisely shaped result for an event next week. And it tends to suit patients who want their skin to look better in general rather than one line filled in particular.
Juläine compared with the other regenerative injectables
CLNQ offers several treatments in this category, and Juläine is not automatically the right one. This is what we go through at consultation.

What a Juläine treatment involves
Every Juläine treatment at CLNQ starts with a face-to-face consultation with a clinician. We look at the depth and character of the fold, your skin quality, your medical history and what you are actually hoping to change, and we tell you honestly whether Juläine is the right treatment or whether something else would serve you better.
The treatment itself is an injectable procedure carried out in clinic. The number of sessions and the interval between them is determined by the manufacturer’s protocol and by your own assessment, and your practitioner will set that out for you in writing before you commit — we would rather give you a plan specific to you than a number quoted off a website.
As with any injectable, expect some redness, swelling, tenderness or bruising at the injection points for a few days. Because the effect is regenerative, you should not expect to see the final result immediately; the change develops as new collagen forms. We review you rather than leaving you to judge it alone.
Who Juläine suits — and who it does not
- It may suit you if your main concern is nasolabial folds, you would rather build a gradual, natural change than have a line filled instantly, and you are willing to commit to a course rather than a single appointment.
- It may not suit you if you want a defined result for a specific date in the near future, if what you actually need is structural volume or projection, or if you are looking for something reversible — a biostimulator cannot be dissolved the way hyaluronic acid can.
- It is not appropriate during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with an active skin infection in the area, or where you have a known sensitivity to the product’s components. Certain medical and autoimmune conditions need discussing before treatment, which is what the consultation is for.
If a clinic offers you any injectable without seeing you first, or without a clinician present, walk away. That applies to Juläine and to everything else in this category.

What is Juläine used for?

Is Juläine a dermal filler?
Not in the usual sense. A hyaluronic acid dermal filler occupies space and gives an immediate result that can be dissolved if you are unhappy. Juläine is a bio-activator: it prompts your own fibroblasts to lay down new collagen, so the change develops gradually and what you are left with is your own tissue. That also means it cannot be dissolved, which is a real difference worth weighing.
How is Juläine different from Lanluma or Sculptra?
They belong to the same broad family of collagen-stimulating injectables but differ in their active material and formulation — Juläine is lactic acid based using the manufacturer’s LASYNPRO microsphere technology, while Lanluma is poly-L-lactic acid. In practice the choice comes down to the area being treated, the result you want and clinical judgement. How many sessions will I need?

How long do the results last?
Because the effect comes from collagen your own body has produced, results from biostimulator treatments typically outlast a hyaluronic acid filler, and they fade gradually rather than stopping. Your practitioner will give you the expected duration for your treatment plan at consultation. We would rather quote you accurately than repeat a number from a brochure.
Is Juläine safe?
The manufacturer describes the product as biocompatible and biodegradable with a strong safety profile, and it is supplied only to medical aesthetic clinics for administration by trained doctors. As with every injectable, the risks that matter in practice come from who is injecting and how: expect redness, swelling, tenderness and bruising for a few days, and ask any provider about the less common risks, what happens if there is a complication, and who you contact out of hours.
