Every treatment here is carried out by a doctor, and hyaluronidase is held on site. Lips are the most commonly treated area in the country and the one where vascular complications are most often reported, which is why who holds the needle matters more than the price.
How we approach a first treatment
Conservatively, and we will say so at consultation. A first lip treatment uses a modest amount, placed to respect the shape you already have. You can always add at the two-week review; correcting a lip that has been overfilled is far harder and usually means dissolving and starting again.
What we are looking at in consultation: the ratio between your upper and lower lip, the definition of the vermilion border, whether the corners turn down, and how long your upper lip is. Those four things determine what filler can achieve and what it cannot.
Where filler is not the answer. If your upper lip has lengthened with age, or the corners have dropped, adding product makes the lip project forwards rather than look fuller — the heavy look that nobody asks for. A lip lift is the honest answer for some of those cases, and we would rather tell you than take the booking.
What to expect
Topical anaesthetic first, and the filler itself contains local anaesthetic. Most people describe it as uncomfortable rather than painful, and it takes twenty to thirty minutes.
Swelling peaks at 24 to 48 hours and settles over three to five days. Bruising is possible and can last up to a week — worth planning around anything important. The final result is what you see at two weeks, not at two days.
Results last nine to twelve months for most people. Lips metabolise filler faster than most areas because they move constantly.
Avoid alcohol, aspirin and fish oil for 48 hours beforehand if you bruise easily. Afterwards: no strenuous exercise, saunas or facials for 48 hours, and sleep propped up on the first night.
