Polynucleotides are highly purified DNA fragments, most commonly extracted from salmon or trout sperm because their DNA is biocompatible with human tissue. Most patients tolerate the treatment well. Topical numbing cream is applied before the injections where required, and very fine needles are used to minimise discomfort. You may feel small pinpricks and a brief stinging or pressure sensation as the product is delivered. The most common side effects are mild and short-lived: redness, swelling, small bumps at injection sites, tenderness and occasional bruising — usually settling within 24–48 hours. Less common effects include temporary itching or firmness in the treated area.
