Botox in Manchester and Cheshire

Anti-wrinkle injections are commonly referred to as Botox. Botulinum toxin in Manchester and Cheshire is used to relax muscles that cause lines and wrinkles. Botox are an effective and safe way to improve the fine lines and wrinkles. They are most effective for dynamic lines, which are those lines that come when you make facial expressions such as frowning. The treatment takes about 15-20 minutes to perform. The results take up to 2 weeks to become noticeable as it takes a few days for the action on the muscles.

How Botox works

The Botox toxin works by blocking the chemical signals from the nerve endings to the muscle. This helps relax the muscle and reduce the movement that normally happens when the muscle contracts. The effect of this is improvement in the dynamic lines and wrinkles. Our Cheshire & Manchester Botox treatment is most commonly used for the forehead lines; crow’s feet around the eyes; frown lines; and bunny lines on the nose. This treatment is also effective for the dimpling of the chin. Botox injections are also commonly used for the treatment of hyperhidrosis, which is excessive sweating of the scalp, armpits and palms.

Additional Reading

The anti-wrinkle treatment is performed using very fine injections targeting the specific muscles. There may be a mild amount of swelling or redness at the individual injection sites. Occasionally, some patients may experience a small amount of bruising which settles quickly.

Side effects

The potential side effects of treatment are rare but include:

Bruising, Bleeding, Swelling

Immediately after injection you may experience some bruising or bleeding. It is normal to have some swelling at the injection sites immediately after the procedure. This swelling usually resolves within a few hours. If you get bruising this may take a few days to resolve.

Eyelid or Brow Droop or Ptosis

You may experience a minor drop in first few days after treatment but this is usually temporary and resolves within 2 weeks. Occasionally, however, it may spread or migrate and weaken nearby muscles. The result of this may include drooping of the area treated such as drooping of the brow, eyelid or mouth. This is uncommon and if injected by an experienced surgeon the risks should be minimal. There are other factors that can result in spreading of the Botox such as massaging or rubbing the area after treatment.

Asymmetry

Everyone has some degree of asymmetry or unevenness. After treatment, some areas may take the Botox better than others. This means there may be some areas that are uneven. This can easily be corrected using an additional treatment.
