Rachel Lugo’s Mummy Makeover

Rachel Lugo, mother of 5, had discussed some of her body concerns on the Real Housewives of Cheshire. Dawn Ward introduced Rachel to Mr Reza Nassab and she was seen for a consultation to discuss her concerns. That episode featured the consultation between Rachel and Mr Nassab. They discussed her concerns with her breast implants that had changed with time resulting in discomfort and change in their shape. This was diagnosed as a capsular contracture, which refers to thickening of the tissue that surrounds a breast implant. She also mentioned her insecurities about her tummy after having children. Rachel was then shown having her procedure at a private hospital in Macclesfield with Mr Nassab. Mr Nassab performed a ‘mummy makeover’ procedure which is a combination of breast and tummy surgery. Mr Nassab is an expert in breast and tummy procedures such as breast lifts, implants, tummy tucks (abdominoplasties) and liposuction. Rachel Lugo documented her recovery and progress on the series. She has shared her results on her instagram which such an incredible transformation.

She posted a number of photos on her instagram account sparking rumours of her surgery. She later revealed that she had the procedure with Mr Nassab and told the Manchester Evening News, “Since my last post, I’ve had loads of people speculating about my boobs, Yes I did have them done in November, and so much happier for it.”

If you are considering Laser Hair Removal Manchester here are some of our top tips for taking care of your skin before and after that will ensure you get the best results.

If you are considering Laser Hair Removal Manchester here are some of our top tips for taking care of your skin before and after that will ensure you get the best results.

Do’s

  • Advise your therapist prior to treatment if you are taking any new medication as some can cause photosensitivity which could lead to an adverse reaction.
  • Wear loose clothing to your appointment and for 24 hours afterwards so that the area does not becoming irritated.
  • Apply a cold compress such as an ice pack to the area following treatment, this can help to cool it down and soothe any pain and discomfort.
  • Stay hydrated both by drinking water but also by limiting caffeine and alcohol consumption which dry the skin out.
  • Use an SPF immediately after treatment as the skin will be sensitive and more prone to pigmentation after laser.
  • Ensure where possible that you attend your appointments as these are scheduled as specific times for optimum results. For face treatments we recommend 4 weeks and for body 6 weeks.
  • If you are going to be exposed to the sun its important that a patch test is carried out so that your therapist can change the settings if required.

Dont’s

  • Avoid hot baths and showers, sun beds and steam rooms as well as exercise. The area will already be warm so we don’t want to encourage further warmth.
  • Do not use fragranced cosmetics such a moisturisers, an aloe vera gel can help to sooth and calm the area.
  • Avoid bleaching products for 24-48 hours.
  • If you need to shave its fine to do so after 24 hours but avoid plucking or waxing the treated area so the root and follicle do not become damaged. We want the hair growth cycle to continue so the laser can take effect.
  • Avoid exposing the skin to UV light and self-tan for a minimum of 2 weeks before and after treatment as we want to avoid hyperpigmentation. Ideally we would recommend stopping sun bed and tanning use until the Laser Hair Removal course is complete for best results.

Immediately after treatment, the area may feel warm to the touch, bumpy and could be reddish or purple in colour, this is completely normal and will subside over the coming days.

Two Weeks after your session, your skin will much smoother and any hair growth will be noticeably slower – you’ll wonder why you didn’t get Laser Hair Removal sooner.

If you have been considering Laser Hair Removal using our Cynosure Elite IQ, we can offer a free of charge consultation with one of our therapists who will talk you through the risks and benefits of laser treatment, confirm suitability and advise of costs. We usually recommend a course of 6 treatments however some patients may then go on to have top ups for maintenance. We offer the Laser Hair Removal Manchester in our Deansgate Square Clinic (see the map below). You can now book your appointment online by clicking here.

When we think of hormones, testosterone and oestrogen are usually the first to come to mind. Those are just two of 50 chemical messengers produced by our bodies to regulate our systems throughout our lifetime. When our hormones are imbalanced, the symptoms can wreak havoc on our daily lives and begin to get us down.

Those are just two of 50 chemical messengers produced by our bodies to regulate our systems throughout our lifetime. When our hormones are imbalanced, the symptoms can wreak havoc on our daily lives and begin to get us down.

What are bio-identical hormones?

BioIdentical Hormones are man-made hormones that are chemically identical to those the human body produces. This enables the body to regulate the hormone levels that are unbalanced any relieve any symptoms that the patient may be experiencing. These hormones are frequently prescribed to reduce the symptoms of perimenopause and menopause. Bio-identical hormones, by contrast, are molecules that have the same structure as hormones made by the body. They can be made from plant materials or synthesized in a lab, but the end molecule is biologically identical to the body’s hormones.

Women typically begin to produce less progesterone in their 30s, then oestrogen, then finally testosterone. In men, testicular function starts to decline in their 40s and testosterone production begins to diminish. Hormone replacement can be very helpful for women going through perimenopause or menopause. They can see dramatic improvement of symptoms such as hot flashes, difficulty sleepinganxiety, mood swings and cognitive changes.

Our doctor, Kajal Babamiri, has been trained by the Marion Gluck clinic whom we use for our bespoke prescriptions. Your initial consultation will involve an in-depth review of your symptoms and medical history. The initial consultation can be performed online using Zoom or in person in our Cheshire clinic, CLNQ. We will undertaken hormone profile blood testing to determine your baseline hormone levels. This will help determine if there are deficiencies in certain hormones that need replacement. Our experienced doctor will then tailor a specific prescription preparation to address your specific requirements. You will have regular review appointments to discuss your symptoms and determine if any alterations in your plan are required.

Does Bio-identical Hormone Replacement work?

A recent study from the Marion Gluck clinic published in the Journal of Prescribing Practice reviewed 69 female patients. In this study, all patients received personalised bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT). The study reviewed the symptoms of patients before and after BHRT using a questionnaire at time period from 6-24 months of treatment. They showed a statistically significant improvement in over 20 symptoms with the use of BHRT. The following symptoms showed marked improvement:

  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Feeling tired or lack of energy
  • Loss of interest in sex
  • Sweating at night
  • Irritability
  • Feeling tense or nervous
  • Hot flushes
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Muscle or joint pains
  • Loss of interest in most things
  • Feeling unhappy or depressed
  • Attacks of anxiety or panic
  • Headaches
  • Heart beating quickly or strongly
  • Feeling dizzy or faint
  • Plus, many other symptoms

“There is a growing body of evidence to show the benefits of BioIdentical Hormone Replacement in the improvement of symptoms in patients,” says Dr Babamiri from CLNQ. “We are delighted to be able to offer this service at our clinic and seen many our patients benefit from the use of these bespoke treatments.”

Morpheus8 is a fractional skin treatment that stimulates collagen production of the underlying layers of the dermis. The dermis is the layer of skin that lies beneath the epidermis and above the subcutaneous layer. Because it is the thickest layer of the skin, the dermis helps to provide both strength and flexibility to the skin. By targeting these deeper layers of the skin, the underlying layers will reorganize themselves in a natural anti-ageing process, leaving you with beautiful and rejuvenated skin.

Morpheus8 can be used on areas that will benefit from sub-dermal renewal, such as the lower face and neck, stomach and knees. Areas of the face or body that show signs of pigmentation, acne scarring, wrinkles or discolouration are suitable for treatment.

So how does it work? Morpheus8 is yet another microneedling tool, but rather than just needling over the skin, it also incorporates radiofrequency, which triggers the collagen and elastin process at a deeper level that microneedling alone cannot reach.

As for the procedure, we use a topical numbing cream on the patient’s treatment area. What sets us apart from other nearby clinics is that we are doctor led. This enables us to be able to offer a nerve block injection to make the procedure more comfortable. Once the patient is happy, the handheld device is pressed into the area, allowing the microneedles to perforate the skin. Once the pins are in place, they emit radiofrequency waves. The heat from these waves penetrates deep into the dermal layer of the skin, tightening the skin and fat below. This is the fat remodelling process. The whole procedure – numbing and prep included – takes around 2 hours to complete.

You will begin to see results as quickly as your first Morpheus8 treatment, although we would recommend having at least three sessions spaced roughly four to six weeks apart to see full results, and we do sell Morpheus8 packages. The best results are seen after 6-12 months after the course since it takes time for collagen formation and skin tightening. As for downtime after each session, expect to see some mild swelling and redness that looks and feels like a sunburn for three to four days following treatment, plus some possible flaking as the tiny punctures from the microneedle heal.

Loved by celebrities such as Kim Kardashian and Amanda Holden, this treatment is becoming more and more popular. We now hold regular Morpheus8 clinics at CLNQ, our luxury health clinic in Knutsford.

When can I return to work after breast augmentation?

This will depend on your job. Most patients will take about 1-2 weeks off work following their procedure. This is usually enough time for most light jobs such as office or retail work. We recommend no heavy manual handling for at least 4-6 weeks postop.

When can I go back to the gym or workout after breast surgery?

You should avoid any strenuous activity for 6 weeks. You can do light walking after 1-2 weeks but we do not recommend any exertion. This can raise blood pressure and increase the risks of bleeding.

When can I have sex after having breast implants?

We recommend avoiding sexual intercourse for at least 6 weeks. This can raise your blood pressure and risk bleeding.

When can I use a sunbed following breast enhancement?

We generally do not recommend using sun beds as this can increase your risks of developing skin cancers. The main problem with UV or sun exposure is the scars may remain or become red following your procedure. You should therefore cover the scars if you are being exposed to UV or sun. You can use fake tan once the scars have healed after about 2-3 weeks.

What can I do to help the scarring after my boob job?

The scar usually takes about 2 weeks to heal but its full strength takes about 6-8 weeks. The scars are usually red initially but with time they should become more pale. Scars can take up to 1-2 years to fully mature. After 2 weeks, you can start applying some silicone scar creams or tapes to help improve the scar outcome. The silicone helps fade the colour of the scar and make them flatter. This treatment should be used for about 3 months as a minimum. If your scar remains raised or red for a longer time then you have a hypertrophic or keloid scar. If this is the case then you may need additional treatments such as steroid injections. This is often due to the way your body heals and it can be more common in darker skin types or in those with a history of keloid scars.

When can I drive after breast augmentation?

We recommend you do not drive for the first 2 weeks following your procedure. You should not drive if you still have discomfort and do not feel you can safely drive or perform an emergency stop. You should also discuss with your insurer as some may have differing rules or guidance as to when you can drive after a procedure.

Is it normal for one side to hurt more than the other following my operation?

Yes, it is very common for one side to have more pain or discomfort compared to the other. It is normal for one side to be slightly more swollen but if the swelling is significantly more than the other side then you should contact us. This may indicate a haematoma which is a collection of blood around the implant. The breast with a haematoma is generally much larger than the other side and often there is a sudden onset of swelling. This may need investigation and drainage either under a scan or return to theatre.

Is it normal for some parts of the breast and nipple to feel numb after my surgery?

Yes, it is very common to lose some sensation following a breast augmentation procedure. When we create the pocket for the implant some of the sensory nerves may be cut resulting in reduced sensation. Some sensation may come back but this usually takes several months for this to happen. In some, there may be continued loss of sensation which is permanent. Some patients may also experience hypersensitivity which means that the skin or nipple becomes very sensitive.

Why do I get shooting pains in certain areas?

This is usually due to the recovery of the nerves that may have been disturbed during the procedure. We normally recommend massaging these specific areas to help de-sensitise the nerves. In most patients, these shooting pains settle with time but it can take several months to a year or so.

Why does the shape look funny or square following my breast implant surgery?

Some patients may notice that the breast looks a funny shape initially especially when implants are placed under the muscle. The muscle is initially tight and contracts causing the implant to ride higher in the pocket. This makes the breast look very full in the upper pole and empty in the bottom. The breast band is used in the first 2 weeks to help prevent the implants riding too high. The implants will gradually begin to descend into the pocket. This process is sometimes referred to as the drop and fluff. It can take several months up to a year or so for the breast implants to fully settle.

When can I remove the dressings after my breast surgery?

You will have dressings on when you leave the operating theatre. These will remain in place until you have your first dressing check at one week with the nurse. Sometimes, the nurse will replace the steristrip tapes and these can be removed after another 5-7 days by yourself. The wound should be fully healed at this point and you can start applying the silicone gel or tapes.

When can I sleep flat or on my side?

For the first 4-5 nights we suggest you sleep with the a few pillows under you to stay about 45 degrees up. You can probably lie completely flat after the first week. We try and suggest that you avoid sleeping on your front or your sides for the first six weeks.

When can I wear a normal bra after breast implant surgery?

You will be able to wear a normal or underwired bra after 6 weeks following your breast augmentation.

Do I have to continue to wear the support bra?

We recommend wearing a sport bra particularly if you had larger implants as the support bra will help take and reduce the risk of the implants dropping or the breast becoming ptotic with time.

When can I go on holiday after having breast surgery?

We recommend waiting for about 4 weeks for short haul and 6 weeks for long haul flights.
