Moprheus8 is a fractional skin treatment that stimulates collagen production of the underlying layers of the dermis. The dermis is the layer of skin that lies beneath the epidermis and above the subcutaneous layer. Because it is the thickest layer of the skin, the dermis helps to provide both strength and flexibility to the skin. By targeting these deeper layers of the skin, the underlying layers will reorganize themselves in a natural anti-ageing process, leaving you with beautiful and rejuvenated skin.
Morpheus8 can be used on areas that will benefit from sub-dermal renewal, such as the lower face and neck, stomach and knees. Areas of the face or body that show signs of pigmentation, acne scarring, wrinkles or discolouration are suitable for treatment.
So how does it work? Morpheus8 is yet another microneedling tool, but rather than just needling over the skin, it also incorporates radiofrequency, which triggers the collagen and elastin process at a deeper level that microneedling alone cannot reach.
As for the procedure, we use a topical numbing cream on the patient’s treatment area. What sets us apart from other nearby clinics is that we are doctor led. This enables us to be able to offer a nerve block injection to make the procedure more comfortable. Once the patient is happy, the handheld device is pressed into the area, allowing the microneedles to perforate the skin. Once the pins are in place, they emit radiofrequency waves. The heat from these waves penetrates deep into the dermal layer of the skin, tightening the skin and fat below. This is the fat remodelling process. The whole procedure – numbing and prep included – takes around 2 hours to complete.
You will begin to see results as quickly as your first Morpheus8 treatment, although we would recommend having at least three sessions spaced roughly four to six weeks apart to see full results, and we do sell Morpheus8 packages. The best results are seen after 6-12 months after the course since it takes time for collagen formation and skin tightening. As for downtime after each session, expect to see some mild swelling and redness that looks and feels like a sunburn for three to four days following treatment, plus some possible flaking as the tiny punctures from the microneedle heal.
